Good morning and welcome to another post of The Leaflet’s Simple Steps to Sustainability.
This post focuses on how to save gas while driving your car and how to make your car last longer.
The first tip is to enable the engine “START/STOP” feature on your car. This feature turns off your engine when you are at traffic lights or when your car is not moving but you’re still in drive. Believe it or not, this actually does save you gas, with estimates ranging from 7-26% (Consumer Reports).
Besides that, to make your car as environmentally friendly as possible, try to be light on your brakes, slow to accelerating, and within a safe (below the speed limit) speed. This will help your car last longer and drive for longer on a tank of gas.
Also keep up proper maintenance with your car, such as with oil changes, to ensure your engine runs as efficiently as possible.
Consider implementing these tips into your daily life.
See you next week!
