Because we didn’t produce a standard issue this week (the website being in place of it), we had to publish the Tell us Tuesday #2 responses separately. This article is for this purpose.

Tell Us Tuesday #2 Feedback

Part 1: Do You Know?

Richard Nixon (Republican) established the EPA. I bring this question up for the purpose of addressing a common misconception about fighting climate change.

Working towards environmental justice is not a bipartisan issue. Although in recent years the Democrats have led the charge for protecting our world more often than Republicans (and Trump’s recent actions have strengthened this divide between what each party is doing for the environment), both parties have worked towards protecting our environment in their history.

Altering the devastating effects of climate change requires an effort from both Republicans and Democrats, as much as it requires effort from both government and its subjects.

Part 2: Let’s Hear from You

These responses (and these) hit the nail on the head. EV’s are absolutely great in theory, but aren’t so great in practice.

EV’s promise a zero emission commute. What it takes to achieve that zero emission commute is a different story. The manufacturing, mining of lithium (which is especially environmentally degrading), and eventual charging of an electric vehicle must be taken into account.

Responses from this Tell us Tuesday made it evident that a further investigation (and subsequent article) must be done in order to fully evaluate the effect of EV’s on our environment.

Here is a copy of all the responses from this Tell us Tuesday.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in this Tell us Tuesday. I loved reading each and every response and it meant the world to me that you all took time out of your day to participate.
